How to Use the Georgia Paycheck Calculator
Quick answer
Enter your salary or hourly pay, choose your pay schedule and copy your federal W-4. Then add your Georgia G-4 marital status and your dependent and additional allowances. The Georgia paycheck calculator applies the 4.99% rate and the 2026 deductions, then shows your net pay per check and per year.
Enter your pay.
Salary, or hourly with overtime.
Choose your pay schedule.
Weekly, biweekly, semimonthly or monthly.
Copy your W-4.
Federal filing status, Step 2 and Step 3 credits.
Copy your G-4.
Single, married filing jointly with one or both spouses working, married filing separately, or head of household, plus your allowances.
Add pre-tax deductions.
401(k), health and HSA amounts lower both federal and Georgia tax.
If you never filed a G-4, Georgia employers generally withhold as if you are single with zero allowances. So filing one can raise your take-home pay if you have dependents.
Georgia Income Tax Rate 2026
Quick answer
Georgia taxes income at a flat 4.99% in 2026, down from 5.19% in 2025. The cut came from House Bill 463 and applies back to January 1, 2026. The same law raised the standard deduction to $15,000 for single filers and $30,000 for married couples filing jointly.
| G-4 status | Standard deduction | Each dependent or additional allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Single or head of household | $15,000 | $5,000 |
| Married filing separately, or jointly with both spouses working | $15,000 | $5,000 |
| Married filing jointly, one spouse working | $30,000 | $5,000 |
Source: Georgia Department of Revenue, Employer’s Tax Guide (revised June 2026), as summarized in the NFC Georgia withholding bulletin. The previous amounts were $12,000, $24,000 and $4,000.
How Georgia withholding works
First, payroll annualizes your wages. Next, it subtracts your standard deduction and $5,000 for each allowance. Then it multiplies the rest by 4.99% and divides by your number of paychecks. Because there is only one rate, this Georgia paycheck calculator matches payroll closely.
You may get some 2026 tax back
The 4.99% rate applies to all of 2026, but paychecks before the June tables were withheld at the old rate and deductions. Any extra withheld early in the year should come back when you file your 2026 Georgia return.
Georgia Paycheck Example: $60,000 Salary
Quick answer
A single Georgia worker earning $60,000 and paid every two weeks takes home $1,851.71 per paycheck in 2026, or $48,144 a year. Georgia tax is $86.37 per check, which is $2,245.50 for the year. Federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare take another $369.62.

Worked exampleHow the Georgia paycheck calculator gets $1,851.71
Gross pay: $60,000 ÷ 26 = $2,307.69.
- Federal income tax: $193.08 (IRS percentage method, single).
- Social Security $143.08 and Medicare $33.46.
- Georgia tax: ($60,000 − $15,000) × 4.99% = $2,245.50 a year, or $86.37 per check.
Take-home pay: $1,851.71 per paycheck.
Under the old 2025 rules, the same paycheck would have lost $95.82 a check to Georgia tax: ($60,000 − $12,000) × 5.19% ÷ 26. So the 2026 changes add about $246 a year to this worker’s pay.

Atlanta Paycheck Calculator: Local Taxes in Georgia
Quick answer
Atlanta has no city income tax, and neither does any other Georgia city or county. So an Atlanta paycheck is taxed exactly like one in Macon or Athens. You can use this Georgia paycheck calculator for any job in the state without adding a local rate.
Local governments in Georgia rely on sales and property taxes instead. For example, sales tax in the city of Atlanta is higher than the 4% state rate because of local add-ons, so budget for that separately.

Georgia’s 2026 law also created new state deductions for some tips and overtime pay for 2026 through 2028. These are claimed on your Georgia return, so they do not change regular withholding in this Georgia paycheck calculator.
Georgia Bonus Tax
Quick answer
Georgia generally withholds on bonuses at the same 4.99% rate. With 22% federal withholding, Social Security and Medicare, a $5,000 bonus leaves about $3,268.00. If your total 2026 tax is lower than what was withheld, you get the difference back when you file.
Federal Taxes on Every Georgia Paycheck
Quick answer

| Tax rate | Single | Married filing jointly |

How to Raise Your Georgia Take-Home Pay
Quick answer
Pre-tax benefits shrink your taxable pay. On a $75,000 Georgia salary, a 6% 401(k) puts $173.08 a paycheck into savings, yet take-home pay falls by only $126.36. Georgia follows the federal rule, so a 401(k) lowers both federal tax and the 4.99% state tax.
- File an updated G-4 that lists your dependents. Each allowance now removes $5,000.
- Contribute to a 401(k) or 403(b), up to $24,500 in 2026.
- Use pre-tax health and HSA benefits.
- Check your 2026 return for the new Georgia tip and overtime deductions if they apply to you.
Why Your Georgia Pay Stub May Differ
Our Georgia paycheck calculator uses the revised June 2026 formula. Your real stub may still differ because of:
- Paychecks before your employer installed the June 2026 tables.
- A G-4 status or allowance count that differs from what you entered.
- Health, dental or vision premiums and other benefits taken before tax.
- Extra withholding you asked for on your federal W-4 or state form.
- Garnishments, union dues or other after-tax deductions.
- High year-to-date wages, after which Social Security stops for the year.
