Corrections Policy Summary
Quick answer
If you find a mistake on FiftyStatePay, tell us through the contact form or by email. We review reports within 2 business days, check the claim against the official source, and fix confirmed errors. Serious errors that could change a decision are fixed first, and every material fix is dated on the page or in the tax updates log.
What Counts as an Error
| Type | Example | Our target |
|---|---|---|
| Serious | A wrong tax rate, wage base or formula that changes a calculator result. | Review within 1 business day, fix once confirmed. |
| Factual | A wrong number, date or rule in a guide. | Review within 2 business days, fix within a week. |
| Minor | A typo, a broken link or an unclear sentence. | Fix within 10 business days. |
| Not an error | Your real paycheck differs because of employer settings. | We will still help you find the cause. |
Note: These are targets, not guarantees. One person runs the site, so a complex rule can take longer to confirm.
How to Report an Error
Open the contact form.
Choose the topic “Correction to a page or guide,” or email us directly.
Name the page.
Paste the page link and quote the sentence or number that looks wrong.
Share your source.
Add the official source you checked, such as an IRS publication or a state agency guide.
For a result, add your inputs.
Tell us your state, filing status, pay, pay frequency and deductions.
Please do not send your Social Security number or a full pay stub. We never need them to check a rule.
How We Verify and Fix an Error
Every report follows the same path. First, we reproduce the problem. Next, we compare it with the primary source, such as IRS Publication 15-T or the state agency’s own guide. Then we fix confirmed errors and test the result against official examples.
If the source is unclear, we ask the agency or note the uncertainty on the page. If you are right, we thank you. If you are wrong, we explain why, politely and with a link to the rule.
How We Mark a Correction
We do not quietly erase mistakes. The way we mark a fix depends on its size.
- Serious and factual errors: we add a dated note on the page, such as “Corrected October 21, 2026: the wage base was shown as …”.
- Calculator or data fixes: we add a line to the tax updates log, with the date, what changed and the source.
- Minor fixes, such as typos: we correct them and update the page’s last-updated date.
What a correction note looks like
Corrected [date]: This page said [old figure]. The correct figure is [new figure], according to [source]. Thank you to the reader who reported it.
When Your Paycheck Differs From Our Result
A gap between your pay stub and our estimate is not always our error. Employer settings, benefits, garnishments and local taxes often explain it. Still, we would like to look. Send your inputs and the lines of your stub, and we will tell you whether the difference is ours.
Our how we calculate page lists what the calculators do not model, and the disclaimer explains why real paychecks vary.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Corrections Policy
How do I report an error on FiftyStatePay?
Use the contact form and choose “Correction to a page or guide,” or email hamzaakram789@gmail.com. Include the page link, the wrong figure and the source you checked.
How fast does FiftyStatePay fix errors?
We review reports within 2 business days. Serious errors are looked at within 1 business day and fixed once we confirm them. Minor ones usually take longer.
What happens after I report a mistake?
We reproduce it, check it against the official source, fix it if it is confirmed, and reply to you. For material fixes, we also add a dated note.
Does FiftyStatePay note corrections?
Yes. Serious and factual fixes get a dated note on the page, and data changes go into the tax updates log. We only fix typos silently.
What if my paycheck is different from the calculator?
That is common, because employers use their own settings. Send us your inputs and your pay stub lines, and we will check whether the gap is our error.
Will you tell me when you fix what I reported?
Yes. If you gave us an email address, we will reply with what we found and what we changed.
Estimates, not tax advice
A correction fixes our content. It does not turn an estimate into tax advice. For your own situation, ask a CPA, an enrolled agent or the IRS.
